UK Adds Nine SVHCs to UK REACH Candidate List

The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has added nine substances or groups of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) to the UK REACH Candidate List. The additions took effect on 19 October 2026, following a six-week public consultation and consideration of responses on the identity and hazardous properties of the substances.

The table below lists the nine additions and their CAS numbers, where available. The CAS number shown for medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) is the principal identifier commonly used in Europe, although the entry covers a group rather than a single substance.

Additional Supplier Duties

Inclusion on the Candidate List triggers additional information and notification duties under UK REACH. These include providing Safety Data Sheets for listed substances and, where applicable, mixtures, communicating safe-use information for articles containing an SVHC above 0.1% by weight, and notifying HSE of substances in articles where the relevant conditions are met.

The HSE has announced that consultations on further additions to the UK REACH Candidate List will be launched during the 2026–2027 operational year.
