The Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) has reminded businesses that they must renew their registration by 31 August 2026 if they wish to continue importing or manufacturing industrial chemicals in Australia.

For the 2026–27 registration year, AICIS is applying a one-off 90% reduction in the registration levy for registration levels 2–8. From 2027–28 onwards, registration levels will revert to those of the 2025–26 registration year, with indexation applied.

Registration Renewal

AICIS registration expires on 31 August each year. Businesses that continue to introduce industrial chemicals but renew after the deadline may be liable for a penalty. To renew, businesses must log in to AICIS Business Services and provide the total value, in Australian dollars, of the industrial chemicals they imported or manufactured during the previous financial year (from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026). Reasonable estimates may be used.

Businesses must keep records showing how the value was calculated and retain relevant commercial documents for at least five years. Once the renewal application has been processed and the applicable registration fee has been paid, businesses can download their new registration certificate through AICIS Business Services.

Businesses that will no longer import or manufacture industrial chemicals after 31 August 2026 should advise the AICIS of non-renewal in the AICIS Business Services for 2026–27.
