The
Dominican Republic is part of the group of countries that do not have solid
management of chemical substances, therefore, a scattered regulation is
present. The most updated document about chemicals and related regulations in
the country is- National Profile of Chemical
Substances and Hazardous Waste - dated back to 2013.
In
consonance, there is no information about GHS and SDS applications. Decree 522/2006 - Health and Safety
Regulation at Workplace - is GHS-alike but does not indicate which version it
is based on. It establishes that manufacturers, importers, and suppliers shall
pack and label substances that allow their conservation and handling in safe
conditions, clearly identify their content and the risks associated, and SDS.
The
SDS shall contain the product identification, hazardous ingredients, physical
data, fire and explosion information, health hazard, routes of entry, data on
reactivity, the procedure in case of leak or spill, and special handling
information.
