Quality Control Order QCO Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals DCPC BIS Chemical supply-chain India

New Delhi, April 2, 2026: The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has announced a temporary suspension of mandatory quality standards for Morpholine in response to global supply chain challenges.

Through an amendment to the Morpholine (Quality Control) Order, 2020, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals stated that compliance with Indian Standards will not be required from April 1 to July 1, 2026.

The move, made in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), is intended to ensure steady availability of Morpholine, a key chemical used in industries such as rubber and pharmaceuticals.

According to the government, the step is aimed at avoiding supply disruptions and stabilizing the market. The relaxation is temporary, and standard quality norms will be reinstated after July 1, 2026.
