Chile has published the 2026 Official Classification List of Substances (Listado Oficial de Sustancias 2026) through the Ministry of Health's GHS platform. The list forms part of the country’s chemical hazard classification framework, which was established under Supreme Decree No. 57/2019. The Decree regulates the classification, labelling, notification and risk assessment of hazardous chemical substances and mixtures. It applies to manufacturers and importers and is intended to protect human health and the environment.  

According to Article 6 of Supreme Decree No. 57/2019, the Ministry of Health is responsible for maintaining an official classification list containing the applicable hazard classes and categories. This official list serves as a minimum reference for the classification of substances and must be reviewed at least every two years.  

 2026 update 

The 2026 Official Classification List contains 4,821 numbered entries. It provides the assigned hazard classes and categories, hazard statements, specific concentration limits, M-factors and acute toxicity estimates, where applicable. The list is available through the Chilean Ministry of Health's dedicated GHS platform here. 

Compliance impact 

Manufacturers and importers should: 

• Review the 2026 Official Classification List against substances placed on the Chilean market.  

• Verify the assigned hazard class and category for substances appearing on the list.  

• Review classification and labelling information where the applicable hazard classification has changed.  

• Check safety data sheets to ensure they remain consistent with the applicable classification.  

• Consider the updated classification when assessing notification and other obligations under Supreme Decree No. 57/2019.
