On 10 April 2026, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers announced a temporary suspension of mandatory quality standards for n-butyl acrylate (CAS No. 141-32-2) in response to global supply chain disruptions.
Provisional Suspension of Quality Requirements
Through an amendment to the n-Butyl Acrylate (Quality Control) Order, 2021, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals stated that compliance with applicable Indian Standards will not be required from 10 April 2026 to 10 July 2026.
This decision was made in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to ensure uninterrupted availability of n-butyl acrylate, a key industrial chemical used in the production of polymers, adhesives, and coatings.
Temporary Policy Relaxation to Ensure Supply Continuity
According to the government, the measure is intended to prevent supply chain disruptions and ensure the substance’s availability. The suspension is temporary, and standard quality requirements are expected to be reinstated after 10 July 2026.
