The Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) has announced revisions to the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines, which will take effect in September 2026 following a public consultation held from 13 November 2025 to 28 January 2026.
Updates to the High-Hazard Chemicals List for Categorisation
The following updates will be made to the list:
293 new entries will be added based on updated external sources and recent assessments or evaluations by the AICIS.
122 existing entries will be updated to reflect inclusion in additional source lists or revised chemical hazard information.
The CAS number for bis(pentachlorophenyl) carbonate will be corrected to 7497-08-7.
1,1,1-trichloroethane (CAS 71-55-6) and fluoro(triphenyl)stannane (CAS 379-52-5) will be removed as they no longer appear in the original source documents.
In addition, five chemicals will be added to Part 6.5.2 of the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines, which outlines the information required to demonstrate the absence of developmental toxicity. During categorisation, introducers must verify that their chemicals are not salts of the specified substances.
Chemicals added:
|
Chemical Name |
CAS Number |
|
1H-Benzotriazole, 6-chloro- |
94-97-3 |
|
1H-Benzotriazole |
